Peer review:
- Read your paper aloud to your partner while the partner takes notes.
- After the reading, the listener will explain the following:
- What is the goal of the writer?
- Why is this topic important (according to the writer)
- How is the writer going to fulfill the goal? (sources, comparison, close analysis of one film...?)
- Does the topic need to be narrowed? If so, how?
- Can the goal be accomplished? (i.e. will it need a textbook-length paper to answer or does it span too much time or too many cultures or is it speculative?)
- After the listener has reported, the writer can ask questions but not clarify or lecture on anything.
- Example: "What I meant was..." is not appropriate but "What made you think my intention was..." is.
- Then switch.
If extra time: write a paragraph using the Point, Example, Explanation guide using an example from your paper/topic or from Happy Feet. Practice expanding the Example and making it detailed and clear.
